New improved WebGL renderer
-
@bulletproof That's really strange, are you on a laptop or a desktop?
-
@apemanzilla Desktop
-
@artch When you manually remove a road that has multiple connections to other roads, some of the connections to other roads remain.
-
I'm not sure if this is a local problem, or a general WebGL-problem, but I'm always getting the badge from the public server when playing on private and local servers (SWC, screepspl.us and botarena). Units and structures is affected. When I turn of WebGL it uses the badge it is supposed to use. World map shows the correct badge.
Tell if you need any additional information.

Loving the new WebGL renderer! One minor issue: When a controller is upgraded while watching a room, the new segment appears above the player logo on the controller.
-
@seancl Fixed. By the way, this screenshot looks like you don't have WebGL mode enabled (no lighting), could you please check it in the renderer metrics? What is your OS and GPU model?
-
@wtfrank Fixed.
-
@kasami This is a known issue. WebGL renderer doesn't support private servers fully yet.
-
Update:
- Fixed an issue with poor sprites antialiasing. Text fonts antialiasing is still on our TODO list.
-
Some structures seem to be invisible - they still emit effects (like lighting) but don't show up directly, specifically keeper lairs and portals:
-
Update:
We've found and fixed a problem that caused bad performance and lags on ticks updates.
@bulletproof Please check if the updated version works smooth enough for you.
-
@artch Yes! This helped alot, thanks!
-
When I turned the new renderer on, I found it very hard to visually distinguish empty extensions and construction sites that don't have any build progress.
-
Great work! So much better than the 2-15 fps I was getting before.
Lows of 20-30. Typically 40-50. Peaks at 50-70.
-
I got a metric ton of FPS extra now on the integrated graphics processor:
It's also steady on these numbers. It doesn't feel jittery at all anymore.
The dedicated graphics (960M) card still pulls in a solid 60 FPS.
-
Update:
- Fixed text font antialiasing issues.
-
noticed couple of bugs:
- private server you can select a new icon. Old renderer creeps & structures use the new icon, new webGL renderer they use your official screeps icon.
- private server creeps seem to jump when moving? this is with tick rate of 1000:
(hm, a little weird but this creep blinks but only in my recording software, not on my actual screen. Used screenToGif)
-
@jestdotty Private servers are not supported yet.
-
Running well in Firefox here. It's broken in FF-nightly, but I imagine that will be fixed on the browser side. If anyone who has more webgl knowledge wants to debug it though...
-
@daboross I've just checked the latest Firefox Nightly 58.0a1, and it seems to work fine for me. What is your version? Could you please check browser console logs?
