XSolla Redirect
-
So if I come and use the webclient there's times where I'll click on something and an XSolla window will pop open trying to get me to buy a sub. It's typically on the first click of the day so I'm assuming it's a cookie/session entry or something that expires.
Ignoring that I have a sub that I buy thru steam (f xsolla) why the hell does this game now have popups. And who thought that was a good idea?
-
That's weird. I use the webclient via Chrome and purchased on steam originally w/ sub via steam and have never seen a pop-up like that, only one rarely asking to rate the game. Though I do have a pop-up blocker enabled.
-What browser are you using?
-What things are you clicking when you see it?
-When did it start?
-
Chrome
My bookmark is my profile page so when I click one of my rooms it sends me to a link that initially says xsolla and then redirects to (https://screeps.com/?utm_source=cityads&utm_campaign=SCREEPS&tracking_id=XkWAI9XwPqt4jMK1HsZeZ4FrZ4PGp1q6) tracking_id varies.
Past couple weeks.
I just had it occur and had inspected the page prior and didn't see anything obvious.
-
@shibdib Any idea how we can reproduce this?
-
@o4kapuk I'm trying to figure out what causes it, seems random. The initial url before it redirects is clickandshare or something similar
-
Still an issue, it redirected me today to https://screeps.com/?utm_source=cityads&utm_campaign=SCREEPS&tracking_id=NsS9v5OXE84L0lqhG8goeNjmCz2ZaKCZ
Other users have confirmed also having this occur
-
Today didn't even require a click, opened my profile page and it loaded up all my rooms then redirected me to a similar link as above. This all occurs with uBlock running
-
I was able to catch it in the dev console https://pastebin.com/cfua72Bt the initial redirect occurs on line 174
-
Thanks, we will pass this information to Xsolla staff, it looks like something is wrong on their end.
-
@Shibdib It looks like you've got some adware in your system. This checkload.dir redirect is not related to either Screeps or Xsolla, it's more like some third-party software intervenes into your browser (here is some info about checkload.dir). Please try using a clean browser without any extension installed.

With all the recent news regarding ping back vs redirects the redirect might be uBlocks fault as well.
If you disable ping backs most sites use a redirect instead. All browsers except Brave are removing the ability to disable ping back because it only results is poor experience with no added privacy. It's trivial for sites to detect and switch to redirects when ping back is not working.
You really should allow ping backs in uBlock, your browsing will be faster.
Now that the tracking is less obtrusive you can go on to wonder why checkload.dir is tracking you.
screen shot of google using a ping back. With uBlock disabling ping back the url will be a redirect instead of a direct link.
