      @telegraffony said in SOS!!!:

      store.getFreeCapacity()

Im not sure why this is as it feels off... but if you call store.getFreeCapacity() without an resource type argument on a structure that can only store certain types of resource (in this case, spawns, extensions, towers) will return 0.

You need to do store.getFreeCapacity(RESOURCE_ENERGY) instead.

I regularly get this bug, but work around it. Ill see if I can work out how to reproduce it too next time it happens.

    • RE: Discussion: Contract system

Am I just missing the point completely? (This is quite probable)

Can users who think they would utilise the contract system detail some example use cases to me?

Considering how few players there are (generally) in range to accept a contract that will impact my game ‘state’.

Considering how easy it is to offload long running heavy CPU tasks to an external process. (Or just save CPU / use bucket)

Considering how easy it is just to DM a user and ask for a trade (help me attack X for Y).

Don’t get me wrong, I really like the concept but struggling to understand where I would use it?

    • RE: Discussion: Contract system

I have to agree with some others. I can see that it is interesting concept. But I think it will see little uptake for the amount of development effort, I could well be wrong. But it seems to me other areas should have a higher priority.

      Wasn’t there a battle arena planned? 🙂

Battleground type matches between geographically distant players would be awesome and allow low level GCL players to get experience with battle in a safe ‘non-ganky’ way and give high level players the ability to show off their prowess as they wish to.

      Anyway. Veering widely off-topic.

    • RE: WebGL Renderer Blurry

Sorry I have been preoccupied and unable to respond.

I got a chance to look at it today, and whilst I am sure it is better than before, when comparing to my screen shot above, it is still noticeably less crisp than the legacy graphics. However, that said, with the updates, and new options I can get it to a state where I'm really quite happy with it. So consider me appeased!

It seems as if the text is a lot clearer now which was one of my major pain points. If something was done there, cheers! Perhaps it was just something not up to date on my client, if so, apologies. Rookie mistake.

    • RE: WebGL Renderer Blurry

Appreciate all the work done on this but i'm slightly concerned about the comment in the tweet that the original graphics will be made legacy / not support new features pretty soon.

WebGL is totally blurry for me. Its ok... ish... but i cant use it for long without switching back to the original graphics due to the fact its just not that easy to look at. Im not sure what features wont be supported in the future, maybe they will only be minor and nothing to worry about. However my current preferred method of playing screeps is with WebGL turned off as my eyes just cant take it.

Just trying to read the text and the blurry outlines of everything. Im my oppinion this needs a bit more work to:

      1. Make it sharper.
      2. Make it run smoother on machines without dedicated graphics cards. or...
      3. Continue to support the standard graphics moving forward.

Perhaps the options to disable some features will help. But its not the 'glowing' that bothers me but the blur. shrugs

    • RE: New improved WebGL renderer

Great work! So much better than the 2-15 fps I was getting before.

Lows of 20-30. Typically 40-50. Peaks at 50-70.

Hi There, Dissi asked me to post a copy of this screenshot here demonstrating the low FPS im seeing. Love the new look, will try it on my other devices later.

I seem to vary anywhere between 2 and 12 FPS constantly. Occasionally it just up to 55 or so, but only for a very short period.

    • RE: regarding the tone of the community over the last couple days

      *OPINION PIECE*

      For what it’s worth...

I joined ThunderKittens about 2 days before the war broke out. My history with any given individual member of TK extends no further back than 1 week as of today. I have no deep ingrained loyalties to these guys, but have been in the privileged position of experiencing the alliance chat and being involved with them over the last week as the war has unfolded.

I understand this is a high emotion scenario for some. However to those who have been very publicly negative about the personalities of the TK members, accusing them of trolling, bullying, being hateful people and/or generally being miscreants, you are plain wrong... (Well, except for the miscreant part).

The chat in the alliance for the entirety of the week has been largely focused around how to have a fun war with other players of this RTS. Bonsai went to quite some effort to attempt to have a respectful war where opponents could have fun during the proceedings, whilst maintaining that this is an RTS and wars / combat and other such things should be expected as part of the game and no player should necessarily get a carte blanche exclusion just 'because'. At numerous times he went out of his way to try and negotiate temporary cease fires so that people could resolve issues in their personal lives. He made an active effort to try and involve the community and his opponents in the proceedings on slack.

A lot of unconstructive things have been said in the heat of the moment over the last few days and parties from both sides are guilty of this. Repetitively regurgitating these things publicly, out of context, to others in community only ever leads to more negativity and misunderstanding. People need to stop that.

It’s a real shame. It could have been a beautiful experience. When The Culture declared war on TK. The alliance / sun chat was filled with overly excited comments of people eager to see the battles, political events and adaptations in code that would emerge from the scenario and enjoy a brawl with friendly opponents.

Unfortunately it turned toxic and continued to spiral day after day with both sides saying things in the heat of the moment that should not have been said. In that, no one person is to blame. I really hope the community can heal and that TK can enjoy friendly wars with others in the future and that Bonsai will come back one day.

TL;DR... Bonzai / SteeleR / the others in TK are great guys and only wanted to enjoy a good war in this RTS we enjoy so much. If you believe otherwise then you are mistaken.
