Looks awesome! I really like redesign of the logo and market overview - heck, those molecular mineral icons look amazing!
Although it took me a few seconds to understand how the layout is supposed to work in the table at the bottom as reading from left to right it suddenly goes from T3 to T1 - maybe it would help if there was a small gap or line in between them, right in the middle, as a visual aid?
Edit: Looking at the WIP-ingame screenshot, this "line" could also be visualized by a Terminal shooting resources from the bottom of the page
Given the award descriptions, I believe "Most fun with a machine" sounds more reasonable for screeps.
+1 on that, about 5% of the entire population have some sort of color blindness and this would greatly help those.
I really like this!
Since players will be way less expansive due to the CPU limit, it will take a whole lot of time until Shard3 will be full. And it also solves all the "when does my subscription start"-confusion. Two birds with one stone!
Some creeps happen to be pretty talkative and depending how much they say at once, their speech bubbles might be drawn over many tiles. This hides the terrain, structures and other creeps beneath those speech bubbles.
Right now there is an option to hide said speech bubbles, but that might also hide valuable debug information - therefore it would be cool if there was an option (maybe even a slider) in the client settings which would allow us to add some transparency to their speech bubbles instead.
I agree with Orlet on that.
Maybe just give us more options on which notifications we want to receive per mail, as right now it is more or less all or nothing. So my idea would be to just add more categories which we could then toggle separately - right now the following categories come to my mind:
@artch said in Make the free 30 day subscription after a steam purchase start once the first spawn was placed:
We are currently revamping the login screen so that the Tutorial can be accessed without signing into the game.
That will definitely help, but as long as players aren't able to look at the world view without starting their subscription (and without it being mentioned anywhere) it won't be enough to stop misunderstandings (just as with @fkrauthan) to happen.
another option would be to allow the player to manually activate that free subscription, just as one would do with subscription tokens, as most people don't need more than 10 CPU for the first few days or even weeks.
Any opinions on that idea?
Yeah, another option would be to allow the player to manually activate that free subscription, just as one would do with subscription tokens, as most people don't need more than 10 CPU for the first few days or even weeks.
As it is right now, the free 30 day subscription players get once they've purchased the game on steam starts right at the moment when they connect to the server - which is, in my opinion, rather unfair.
The tutorial takes about 1 hour and afterwards, most people don't want to spawn directly on the server and would rather spend some time in sim, whilst trying to understand and learn the API or wait for some new novice area to appear.
This makes people waste their subscription time and causes a lot of confusion, as there is no warning that your subscription will start when you hit that fat, juicy connect button in the client and the clock just starts ticking all of a sudden. The option that sim can be accessed for free in the browser is also nowhere mentioned (neither on the steam store page nor in the client).
So, how about letting the subscription time instead start once a player places his or her spawn on any of the official shards for the first time? And maybe also display a warning if they are sure if they want to really do it.
