User controllable UI buttons

On the left area of the screen, under the overview link, add an small area that gives user customizable/codeable buttons. Also maybe another small text area output that can be controlled.. I.e. for a report.
example: I want to click a button and have my unit say toggled on or off, or to cycle through the say on my unit types.
example 2: I click a button and the text area displays my unit count breakdown by type.I can currently do all this stuff with memory toggles and console.log, but the buttons and report output area would be nice and convenient.
