Unable to open game while dedicated server is running


  • Playing on Windows 7.

    Once I launch the Dedicated Server on Steam, i'm unable to launch the base game after that - it switches focus to the server window. Steam believes the game is already running.

    Yes, Steam doesn't allow to launch two different launch configs of the same app at once. You can use the "Start server" option in the game client instead.

    I tried launching the server on my home computer and opening the client on another computer and it threw a "You're already playing Screeps on another computer", lol. Thanks for the quick response!


  • I'm having the same issue.  I'm running the dedicated server off of a Windows 2012 R2 server.  I then want to run the Screeps client from my gaming PC and connect to the server... but Steam won't let me launch another game.
