In principle it would allow you to get information to other players, which is currently impossible (without dropping energy amounting to ascii codes and other interesting but painful methods). Allies could agree on setting memory.public.clan or something similar. Could be used to implement automatic chat (and trade or whatever else). You never know what world-wide conventions could come about organically. Also it was perhaps misleading using the term 'enemies'. Sorry!
