I know this issue is quite old and marked as solved, but it isn't solved for me. I have the exact same issue. The simulator slows down and down, clearing the text in the console help to get a little faster, and after a while, doing what @WolfWings said to get the simulator back to speed works.

I have this problem in chrome, but also with the steam client. I think this issue is not quite resolved. Thanks for your help

Same here. Slows down to unusable speeds until I click the cog and click okay.

I am trying to push to default branch still and haven't changed any config since it last worked.

This morning I started getting this error when grunt tries to push to my screeps account:

Running "screeps:dist" (screeps) task
>> Error while commiting to Screeps: { error: 'branch does not exist' }

A few other people in the #screeps IRC chat room are experiencing the same thing as of today, so it's not just my configuration.

I did not update my npm packages or anything, it just stopped working leading me to suspect that the problem is server-side.. Was anything changed this morning (it's 11:46PM here right now).
