You cannot claim more than 2 rooms in the Novice Area


  • I started a while back and now I have 3 rooms in the Novice area, but I got up to level 4 so I wanted to claim another room, but now I get error -8 : You cannot claim more than 2 rooms in the Novice Area

    Is this new?  What do I do to expand further?


  • Yes, this is new (https://twitter.com/ScreepsGame/status/677474190811865089). I haven't heard a dev explanation but I assume this is so new players safely have a chance to grow in the novice area without one or two players taking it over completely.  You either have to respawn outside of the zone and start from scratch to avoid the limitation or wait until the area graduates to a normal zone.

    I'd suggest you really don't need that many rooms if your confined to a sector. Refine your code to handle creeps moving to remote rooms for the tasks you need.
