    • Change the GCL limit at RCL8 for a "daily" limit

      Since I'm slowly moving toward RCL8, I've been changing my code to adapt to the 15 energy per tick limit at RCL8. While doing so I had an idea to give players [slightly] more options about upgrading their RCL8 rooms. 

      Basically change the 15 energy limit to a "daily" limit. I.e : You can put 300'000 energy in your controller every 20'000 ticks.  As far as I can tell this produces the same amount of GCL (15 * 20'000 = 300'000) and uses the same amount of XGH2O (I think).

       

      This would allow for different ugprading strategies instead of simply having one 15W/1C/8M creep (boosted or not depending on how bad you want GCL).

      Wasn't it implemented for new players who had their spawns blocked? If so, then they cannot block the spawn since in safe mode there's no collision with other players' creeps.

      Since I'm only few days old, I cannot talk about most things you said Atavus, but I'll throw in my 0.02$ over your PS. I came to the game few days before the PC design doc was revealed. And I must say that I'm quite afraid of the impact on new players. 

       

      I'm currently in the Novice Area with players of higher GCL level. What happens if one of them focused on harvesting a bit of power before Respawning? Will he be able to make PCs once he reach RCL8 and steamroll me since I will have absolutely no way to counter this? Even if I can get the help of nearby players via terminal supplies to boost my creeps, he can still instakill/disable/shield/fatigue them while all I can do is try to find a way to kill his PC AND expand (wait low GCL, nvm)... or at least counter-attack him before his PCs comes back into play as economic booster to counter.

       

      From what I've seen on the leaderboards, adding PCs will mostly help the top 50 players while the rest will struggle to even get Power/Write decent code to control them increasing the difference in power between veteran, intermediate and new players.

      I really like WarInternal's idea since it would prevent the instakill mechanic but also give us the option to decide where we want the creep to go when it spawns.

      Hello veteran screepers 🙂

      I'm a new player and I must say that I really like the game so far! However, something was bothering me a bit : the 3 days novice protection.

      My first try I spawned in a room with 3 days of protection, but my code had flaws and I died overnight. So far everything is alright : flaws in my code, aka my problem to deal with. But... I respawned thinking I'd have another 3 days to setup my basic code only to die again overnight :found the room history thingy and I was attacked as soon as the regular protection worn off. 

      So I was thinking that maybe you should leave the 3 days protection everytime someone respawn until they reach GCL 2, that way they have a bit of breathing time to fix their code. because even in Novice area there are some higher GCL players that simply annihilates everyone in their space, which is very frustrating as a new player who's trying to setup without any protection.
